I'm Aldo Pedro Rangel Montiel also known as aldoram5 and I'm a lead software development engineer, who tries to make his dream come true of being a game developer in his spare time. I like drawing, programming and I'm trying to get better at making music and or sound effects. I'm a big fan of many old retro(maybe Vintage is a better word now? I feel old whenever I see how old these are tbh) games, such as Metal Slug, Classic Mario games, Old Pokémon games, Mario Kart, Need For Speed (classic from ps1 era), TWEWY, Zelda (Twilight Princess all the way), Contra, Snow Bros., Tumblepop, King of Fighters, Street Fighter, Smash, Mario & Luigi, and a big etc. I also played some popular gacha games for phones but left them as I fell them too predatory.
A fun fact about me is that I used to hate catgirls but they grew on me a lot and now I feel outrageous that there's not a single catgirl in any of my games, but thankfully this will change soon™️.
I've been developing games in a non professional way ever since I was 18 years old and I've worked on many games that sadly aren't all available anymore, the first one was "The Chronicles of Magastria: The training", it was released for the Blackberry Playbook and coded in C with OpenGLES 1.0.
After that I created a couple of simple mobile games, the one I can say I got actually proud of was Razor-X, which sadly is also not available on any of the mobile stores as they were requiring me to do some upgrades that were no longer viable for me. Game was made with Unity 3D.
I also developed a game for my employer at the time, called Zombitlan, it was some sort of beat 'em up, which was also for Android, but that one isn't available on the playstore however it's on apk pure visit at your own risk as neither me nor anyone from our team uploaded it there.
Later on I joined the team making the mod Monika After Story, a mod for Doki Doki Literature Club, for which I initially wanted to use NLP to create a less static way to interact with the character Monika, however, that idea was never completed due to the many limitations back then (a time way before LLMs) but I decided to stay with the team and assist with multiple things, including the affection system, the calendar for events and even the quetzal plushie, as I wanted to get into digital art as well.
Moving forward I released The Colors of Love, which is a very simple Visual Novel with RenPy which features a character using Live2D which I actually created from scratch, you can find this Visual Novel here at itch.
I also had created a mini game featuring CRB-5 Roxanne, the resident bot waifu of Crimson R Games, which was used as an easter egg inside my website, for now the game is playable directly there and was made with Godot 3.
Most recently, I released a mini demo of WAVES, which you can also find here on itch, expect the full game released soon™️.
I write from time to time on my blog here.
You can also take a look at my main website.
I post some of my fan art and now some of my official art on my pixiv.
